Sugar & Salt

This is not a cartoon, it's a 10 second preschool food allergy experiment:

You'll need:
1 teaspoon of sugar
1 teaspoon of salt
a dark plate

First, keep the sugar and salt separate, on opposite sides of the plate.

Questions:
Which one is sugar?
Which one is salt?
Can you tell by looking?

Then, Taste test.

Conclusions:
We don't know ingredients by looking.
We have to ask and read ingredient labels.
Other observations encouraged.

Next, mix the sugar and salt together.

Questions:
Can you see the sugar?
Can you see the salt?
What happened to the ingredients?

Conclusions:
When ingredients are mixed together, you can't see them.
We have to read ingredient labels to know what's inside food.
Other observations encouraged.

We're always talking about food and ingredients.
